Madison Homes and Condos for Sale

Madison, New Jersey, nicknamed The Rose City, was named so in honor of the late President James Madison. Being a part of three pre-Revolutionary War villages, it was a division of the Bottle Hill governmental division. The nickname The Rose City is derived from the history Madison’s thriving rose farms, producing millions of roses a year for commercial sales. It was so famous for its roses that wealthy New Yorkers began to spend summers here, then taking with them Madison roses when they returned home. In the year of 1948 it was reported that Madison rose farmers sent an estimated twenty-five million roses to New York. But due to the growing amount of imported roses from all over the world, Madison’s rose industry eventually died out, and today Madison is most well known for its rich history.

Madison has been the set of a few films and television shows, one of those shows being The Sopranos. It is charming and quaint, with its citizens coming together once a year to work together and clean the city. You can enjoy parades and an annual event called Bottle Hill Day, featuring rock climbing, live bands, car shows, and of course, tons of good old New Jersey food. What it does not have in terms of big city sites and attractions, it makes up for in beauty and old fashion community values.
